The National Team strives to push its applicants to be the very best they can be and collaborates nationally across all participating states to provide the best support possible. On the 9th of November 2021 the World Dodgeball Federation officially announced that Edmonton, Canada will play host for the next World Championships. This will be a historical competition for all involved as the World Championships will now include the European style Cloth divisions and a mixed category for both Foam and Cloth divisions. This is bound to be a huge tournament not to miss out on applying for!

The second World Championships were held in picturesque Queenstown, New Zealand, where participants experienced local culture at the opening ceremonies. Canada made history as the first country to win gold in both the women’s and men’s divisions. It was 2013 and the WDBF was trying to map out the next few years.

Hong Kong Dodgeball Association
Hong Kong
With the 2014 World Championships in Hong Kong, the WDBF felt it continued to move forward, playing in Queen Elizabeth Stadium with an elaborate opening ceremony. Canada repeated as men’s champs, while the US won gold for the women.

Las Vegas
The 2015 World Championships was a pivotal event for the WDBF. The host Americans took double gold in a tournament that included a great exhibition on the famed Vegas strip. Subsequent discussions and decisions, however, would take centre stage in shaping the WDBF strategy in the years that followed.

Melbourne
In 2016, it was back across the Pacific to Melbourne, Australia. The event welcomed a team from the Pacific Islands for the very first time, and Malaysia would start to build a dynasty with gold in the women’s division. The Canadian men rebounded from Vegas to claim their third men’s gold in four years

At the 2017 World Championships in Toronto, the Malaysian women successfully defended their title while the men’s team also captured gold, beating the host Canadians who advanced following a game-for-the-ages match against the United States. The halftime show featured a multicultural dance program, reflecting a big part of the country’s identity.

Los Angeles
The 2018 championships took us to Los Angeles, where we welcomed Argentina to the court and introduced an expanded playoff format. The host Americans took the gold in the women’s division and Malaysia repeated as men’s champions. In true Hollywood style, participants celebrated at the historic Roosevelt Hotel.

Federación Mexicana de Dodgeball
Cancun
The 2019 Dodgeball World Championships were held in tropical Cancun, Mexico, where top-ranked countries took to the court to show off their dodgeball prowess. This marked the first tournament that featured countries from the European Dodgeball Federation since they joined the WDBF.

The Global Pandemic
Official Response to the Cancellation of Glasgow
The 2020 World Dodgeball Championships were initially meant to be held in Glasgow, Scotland. Due to the global pandemic, the event had to be cancelled. The WDBF wishes to thank all organizations, staff and volunteers that were involved with the planning of the event.
